Several TACA programs are specifically focused on increasing public understanding and appreciation for the creative work of the hand.

Demonstrations
Demonstrations and hands-on craft activities for children are an important feature of all TACA craft fairs. The invitational nature of the demonstration program provides an opportunity to include crafts and craftspeople representing various ethnic and heritage traditions.

Additional demonstrations, organized by the regional chapters and through our collaborations with the Arts at the Airport program at the Nashville International Airport, increase understanding and appreciation for the process and materials associated with creating fine craft.

Artist-In-Schools
TACA’s popular artists-in-school program, which takes demonstrations by craft professionals into the classroom setting, provides a valuable addition to the school curriculum. This program, organized by TACA and its regional chapters, depends upon the availabiity of local funding. It is designed to offer opportunities for young students to interact directly with working artists, who serve as creative role models.

Classroom Activity Guide
In addition, TACA has developed an activity guide to assist school personnel in integrating craft activities into multiple-subject disciplines. It is available to classroom teachers upon request.
